What’s the difference between lycra and silicone swim caps? Which one is better for use on a swim team?

HS swim team (so it doesn’t matter that much as long as you have a cap), silicone or lycra cap? I have both, but which one makes you more streamline. BTW, I don’t care about keeping my hair dry. Also I have medium-long hair and I’ve noticed that the ends poke out of the Lycra cap.

Any opinions/suggestions?
Forgot to mention, the silicone cap tends to slip up, if you get what I’m saying.

If the silicone cap fits close to your head, I believe it will provide the least resistance (i.e., it would be the best). If not, however, the lycra will also work. Whichever one fits your head closest is best, although the silicon would be preferable.

its more about the feel of the cap rather than what is better. they both reduce resistance but depending on the person they will have diffrent opinions. i’d say to go with the lycra because you say the silicone slips up and during a race that can get uncomftorable and will actually create drag if it is not properly on while swimming.

sillicone caps will usually be the most streamline, but after awhile they can get uncomfortable and they make the lycra one seem like a dream :P

but try put your hair up in a bun if it sticks out.
