The textures will be the same that way. A chiffon cake has a spongy texture and the chocolate cake will have a more velvety crumb texture. I think it would be rather confusing to the palate to combine two different textures. Also, the two different types of cake (butter and chiffon) would slice differently when serving. Personally, I'd go with the Chiffon cake, it takes more effort, but in the end you'll be happier with the result because of the work you put into it. :) Hope you like it!
