Cool video about camouflage, take a look:

DigInfo – www.diginfo.tv The Inami Laboratory of the Graduate School of Media Design at Keio University demonstrated an optical camouflage system, which enables people to experience to become an invisible person, at Digital Content Expo 2008, an exhibition held at Tokyos National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation for the digital content industry between October 23 and 26. The recursive reflective material will pave the way for applications to observe the outside from the inside in realtime. For instance, it will enable the driver of a vehicle to see the outside scene by coating the material inside the vehicle, placing a camera outside the vehicle, and projecting the external images to the inside. It will also become possible to eliminate blind corners by making the inside of a cockpit visible by applying the material so the pilot can land the aircraft by observing the runway.

@zurbz there is another technology that might soon become viable (in a few years) but for now it only works on the infrared spectrum of the light and on the microwave frequencies (good for hiding from radars) … they proved the optics laws are wrong by using metamaterials that have inverse refraction (which was considered impossible until recently) ..

Not as cool as I thought it was… so it’s just an illusion? Nothing practical for stuff like the military whom would have to insert the camera, then set up the same reflective material. In the demo you’re not even seeing through him, you’re just seeing a greenscreen type effect.

so if your enemies are looking through that camera, you’re good to go

whats with all this crap about vehicles? why cant they see that the most practicle use is what theyve made already…. a see through person the best cammo in the world, i meen come on, cars?

NICE VERY NICE…..

@NiggerJuice1000 What gave that away?? Was it the Asian who was presenting this?? Maybe it was the fact that there were only ASIAN’s in the video?? I bet it was the name of the institute at the beginning.

@CanonD265 Oh there are many uses, put this suit on use cameras for 360 view and display your surrounding on the suit and you become rather hard to be seen! think about the fun you could have ;-)

1:34 LOL pedo

obviosuly asians made this

By DvineGaming on September 4th, 2010 at 8:35 pm

when we have cameras for eyes

They did at the end of the video. It isn’t for personal camouflage. They made it for use in cars and airplanes so you can “see” through walls to eliminate blind spots.

later that day they applied this to womens cloths and wore x-ray spec DAMN JAPS genius just genius!!

how is this useful.
Honestly, someone give me an ideal situation to use this camo.

Naked eye can’t see this “transparency” effect. So practical applications at the end of the video is a complete bullshit.
In fact, one will have to have the camera, the car covered with a special material, the projector and a display to do the job that can be done with a camera and display alone.
No wonder these guys trying to sell this “technology” for seven years already.

Attention my little, half-retarded snowflakes. The technology is not directly meant to make you like Grey Fox from Metal Gear Solid, or a Predator. It may be the first stepping stone toward that, however. Practical applications are shown at the end of the video, and it’s pretty genius.

not for our troops.

stupid…
completely worthless

By TheRealestout212 on September 4th, 2010 at 11:29 pm

thats stupid if you dont have the projector that wont work useless invention

This should have more views

hmmm. why dont they just cut out the camera alltogether, and just take a photo of what they are viewing now everything in front of it is “invisible” when they’re looking at the picture!

Like the YF-19 in Macross Plus?

By HairyMcClary on September 5th, 2010 at 1:03 am

I can’t see how the current incarnation has any practical use, oooh a recusive fabric which displays a projected image, hmmm. AND?! they will need to do some amazing refinement in the are of projection to have any practical purpose other than a neat little trick.
